 Welcome To Dunnville Bassmasters Minimize

The Dunnville Bassmasters of Dunnville Ontario is a local, non-profit bass fishing club. The club was formed to engage in competitive bass fishing among our members for the purpose of sharing knowledge about the sport, sportsmanship, and fair play on and off the water . We compete for fun and to improve our skill as bass anglers. The club has both novice and experienced anglers of all ages. We are located in Dunnville Ontario, and have members from Dunnville, Cayuga, Hamilton and Port Colborne and other communities surrounding the Dunnville area. For the novice bass angler, being a member of the Dunnville Bassmasters is an excellent way to learn about bass fishing and greatly improve your angling skills. All members are willing to help each other and share their knowledge and experience with you. The experienced bass angler can also benefit from being a member. You will always have someone to fish with, you will have an opportunity to share what the sport has given you with others and promote the sport of bass fishing. Plus, even the experienced angler can learn something new from others.

We accept members who do not own their own boat, although that is dependent on the current make-up of our club to ensure that everyone has a ride in the tournament. There is a nominal $30.00 entry fee for each monthly tournament. Payouts are awarded after each tournament for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes plus a payout for big bass. The top anglers, based on their accumulated points for the season, are awarded trophies at our annual banquet in January. The tournament sites for the upcoming season are voted on by the club membership. We fish several different lakes near the Dunnville Ontario area, and a couple within four hours on occasion. By fishing a variety of lakes, the members become better anglers by learning to fish different waters under various conditions.

We are affiliated with the Bass Angler Sportsman's Society (B.A.S.S.) and send a team each year to the regional Federation Tournament and, hopefully, on to the Northern Championship tournament. From there, the top fisherman have a shot at going all the way to the Bassmaster Classic!

Membership dues are $45.00 Canadian per year, $15.00 of which, apply to the Ontario Bass Federation (O.B.F.) membership and does NOT cover B.A.S.S. membership.

 Ontario BASS Federation AOY Minimize

The executive of the Ontario BASS Federation Nation announced at the November Annual General Meeting the winner of the OBFN Lowrance Angler of the year.

The winner was one of our very own, Gary Kapps with a narrow win over second place with a total of 243 Points. Gary had a very consistent year with many top three finishes, and some big weights that came to the scales.

The OBFN Lowrance AOY is determined by a preselected 5 club tournament, with big fish being a tie breaker. An angler is rewarded 50 points for a first place finish, 49 for second and so on down to the final competitors.
A big congratulations to Gary as you have done us all proud, A leader that has finally been rewarded.
As a added bonus Gary has been awarded a free entry into the 2008 Provincial Qualifier Event which will be held on Lake Simcoe next August.

 2007 Provincial BCWC Qualifier Minimize

BCWC - Bass Club World Championship

The 6 Man Eastern Divisional Qualifyer took place Thursday July 24th and Friday July 25th on Lake Champlain in Northern New York.

After a tough pre-fish, Andy and Brad managed to put together a reallly consistent small mouth pattern on a local spot. Andy and Peter were paired for day one of the tournament and came in with 17lbs 8ozs. Rob and Jim managed to catch a limit that weighed just over 15lbs. Stiff and Brad had a tough day, catching 4 bass that weighed in at 5lbs. Day two brought all three boats to the same small mouth spot that Andy and Peter had managed to pursuade 17lbs to come for a ride. After a frustrating morning all three Dunnville boats managed to catch their limits all weighing over 15lbs. The fish the team caught was enough to qualify and finish third overall.

The team will be preparing for the next round, held October 2008 in Oklahoma.
